Seeing this kind of thing is so humbling and makes me realise how insignificant I really am in the grand scheme of things. Sure, I try and make my own meaning in this life. We all do. We're all just little creatures trying to find the missing pieces of our puzzle. But LOOK AT THIS! There is so much out there that we have no idea about... can hardly comprehend!
It's so interesting thinking about the human being as a universe (both cosmic and chaotic). We can explore the human on a cellular level, examining all the little parts that make up this infinitely complex being. The powers of the brain for example, are not even close to being learnt in their completeness! Then there is the planet we inhabit... Earth and its intricate and changing patterns with its myriad different species and ecosystems and peoples!
Ideally, everything should be in balance, however, civilization and the earth are increasingly in conflict. Koyaanisqatsi is a Hopi Indian word meaning 'life out of balance'. We have upset the equilibrium with our ignorance and our greed and our waste. We walk around half awake, seeing but not really looking. People who are really awake would not allow what we have let happen to our world. Then there's this VAST solar system we know is out there and more solar systems and galaxies beyond that, more than we can fathom! And let's not even think on the world of the mind, or the possibilities of higher levels of consciousness.
It's overwhelming, knowing that you could focus your attention on one tiny aspect of any of these topics, and you still wouldn't be able to know everything about it! Even if you worked 24 hours a day for the rest of your life.
